The marriage was short-lived, and in the divorce it was agreed Mr. Hatton would keep his business downstairs and Mrs. Hatton would continue to live upstairs. Being a single woman in the early 20th century was no easy feat and Mrs. Hatton turned to the oldest profession — a bordello.
